The Bulls
The Bulls have been exceeding every fan expectation this year by not only finishing in first place in their division, but also defeating the Indiana Pacers and advancing to the second round of the playoffs. The Bulls seem to play with more passion and intensity after Michael Jordan, a former Bulls hall-of-famer, gave a speech saying that the Bulls are a very good team and that they have a good chance of winning the championship this year. The Bulls couldn’t have come this far without the amazing skills of forward, Derrick Rose. Many sports reporters say that Derrick Rose has a very good chance of being this year’s MVP in basketball. But Derrick couldn’t have bring the Bulls this far alone. Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer really brought some skills to the table too. With everyone healthy and ready to play the Bulls have a great chance of winning the Championship this year.

The Irish Dancers wowed the crowd of staff and fellow classmates.
They performed many dances created by the Irish. This performance happened on March 17th, 2011. They performed beautiful dance numbers on the stage. It happened to be St. Patrick's Day. Everyone got in the spirit by wearing festive clothing. For example, they wore leggings, hats, face paint and so much more! Happy St. Patty's Day! So long!!!

The Fun Run
By Peter Gonzalez
In Holmes School the Fun Run is always a big event. Mr. Williams prepares kids for their “final fitness exam.” For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders they have to run one whole lap around park (half a mile). After that the 4th and 5th grade racers have to run 2 laps around the park (1 mile). Then the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders have to run 3 laps around the park (a mile and a half). After last years amazing outcome of over 200 students from Holmes, Mr. Williams wants 300 kids to come. So let’s get those permission slips. Mr. Williams generously buys trophies for kids from Holmes that finish in all places from 1st to 20th. So let’s go out on May 4th and have some fun in this year Fun Run.

The Blackhawks
By Peter Gonzalez
After the Stanly Cup win last year the Blackhawks had to trade star players such as Antti Niemi, Kris Versteeg, Dustin Byfuglien, and others. Although the Blackhawks lost those amazing players they are still in the playoff spot. But with the second best player on the team, Patrick Sharp, out. They will need to have an extra push to get a good spot in the playoffs. With Patrick Kane scoring his 100th goal and Marty Turco letting nothing by, the Blackhawks have a good chance to get a good spot in the playoffs. And who knows maybe they can get back-to-back Stanly Cup wins.

Exciting Offseason
By Abe Zuraw
This year has been a great offseason and many teams have been making exciting trades. First off the Sox are in a playoff position with a bullpen staring the young Criss Sale. Others are returning for the 2012 season among them are Matt Thorton Paul Konerko, and A.J Pierzinzki. The Cubs are also in a playoff position with a new manager a fresh start and new players like former Rays star Carlos Pena and more returning players including Carlos Marmol and Carlos Zambrano.
The Yankees will continue their long-standing tradition of keeping stars until the end. So Derek Jeter who is better suited to a retirement home than a baseball field will be hobbling on to the diamond this year as well. It looks like many teams are going for the championship and for now just hang on and see who spends the most money!

A new way to exercise
Kinect : A Fun Way to Exercise
By Andrew B.
What the Kinect does is that it looks at you with a camera and when you play a game that includes the kinect it senses your motions and does it on the game!!! For an example in Sonic Free Ride, you can hop on and off your gravity board. Reach out your hands to get coins. In Kinect Joy Ride, you control your car with your body and beat other racers to get to the top of the leader board.
Xbox 360 with Kinect is new fun way to exercise at a low price of $299.99. You can wait a couple weeks and the price may go down. If you already have an Xbox360 you can just get the kinect at GameStop for $250. It comes with three games. Get Kinect today and you can become the controller!!!
Health Over the Weekend
By Savannah S.
I hope everyone has a good weekend. I would just like to take a minute of your time to talk about your health.
You know a lot of kids just sit inside and glue their eyes to the T.V. Well that doesn’t help you get in shape. And if you are out of shape and come back to Mr. Williams, you might not be able to do things you did before. That won’t be good! That is why you should eat healthy food and exercise everyday.
When you sit down by the T.V. playing video games, let’s face it, that’s not healthy either. So that's why you should get up and play. Remember.......... BE HEALTHY!!!!!!!!!!!
The Super Bowl
By Peter Gonzalez
What a great game! The drama, the suspense, it was all worth it. The Pittsburg Steelers came into the game with the intention that they were going to win their 8th Super Bowl . But the Packers had other plans. Aaron Rogers was a rookie to the playoffs but that didn’t stop him from going into the game with great confidence. Although he had a lot of confidence, he still had to ask an old friend, Brett Favre, how to roll with the punches. On the other hand Ben Roethlisberger was going into the game with his 3rd Super Bowl appearance. He is only the third quarterback to do that in history.
Now lets get to the game. In the first quarter the Packers came out with two touchdowns and immediately put the pressure on Pittsburg. But in the second quarter Pittsburg scores an early field goal. But that put the Packers down because they came back two drives later and scored a touchdown. Down 21-3 the Steelers come back and scored a touchdown at the end of the half. So that makes it 21-10 after two quarters of exciting football. After the players took the field the only points scored was a touchdown by the Steelers. In the final quarter the Packers wanted to shut the game down. So they came out and scored a touchdown in the first 3 minutes. But the Steelers wanted that trophy and wouldn’t give up. They came right back and scored a touchdown. But in the end it was the Packers who prevailed. With a late field goal and a 6 point lead. The Packers won the Super Bowl and took the trophy home. With a grand total of 12 national championship wins and 3 Super Bowl wins.

The Bulls have been doing very well this season. Derrick Rose is a starter on the All-Star team. The Bulls beat the Lakers. They also beat the Celtics. Not too long ago they beat the Indiana Pacers. They traded Kirk Hinrick for Carlos Boozer. Kirk Hinrick was the leader in three pointers. Joakim Noah injured his hand and hasn’t been in the game since. Carlos Boozer is big, strong and tall. The Bulls have great coaches they make amazing game plans. So far… the Bulls have been doing well. Joakim Noah is back to the Chicago bulls so GO BULLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DA BEARS

By Peter G.
The Chicago Bears are back on the top. With 11 wins and only 5 loses. They won the NFC North division. The Bears are rolling into the playoffs with some heat. Jay Cutler, the Bears quarterback has thrown 25 touchdowns already this year and 3,274 passing yards. Matt Forte, Bears leading running back, already rushed 1,069 yards and he is aiming for 1,300 yards before the end of the year. Also this year, Devin Hester’s 4 punt and kickoff returns for touchdowns broke the record.
The Bears are in the NFC Championship Game. One more win and they are in the Super Bowl. There is only one team that stands in the way and that team is the Green Bay Packers. The Packers just came off a huge win against the number 1 seated Atlanta Falcons. This rivalry never had a game as important as this one. It is a do or die situation for both teams. One will move onto the Super Bowl and one will fall.
UPDATE!!!! It was the Bears who failed to get to the Super Bowl.
